My belief in using Food as Medicine
For me personally, embracing the concept of using food as medicine completely shaped my life.
Looking back, being hospitalised for severe gut symptoms was traumatic at the time but such an important moment. I felt completely dependent on doctors and tests. Yet, every intuitive bone in my body called for more than just prescriptions and pills. I wanted to heal—truly heal.
The light at the end of the tunnel came in the form of a friend who visited the hospital to deliver flowers, a “get well” card, and two books. One book focused on naturopathic support, and the other, documented cases of how food can help people to heal. I didn’t realise it at the time, but her gift changed my life forever. It shifted my very limited perspective about using food as medicine and ignited a lifelong passion that would support my own healing and lift the suffering of many people I would eventually work with.
I was born to help others.
Only by looking back do I see that my own suffering became the doorway to live a life where I can help others.
I encourage and support the approach of integrated medicine. A treatment plan is so important for any disease but parallel to it, using FOOD AS MEDICINE to help manage a chronic disease, to boost the immune system, and to increase energy levels to truly heal, is crucial.
I’ve seen that by making mindful food medicine choices, you not only support your physical health but it brings a mental clarity and an emotional stability. Being sick is hard! For me embracing food as medicine is about understanding and harnessing the healing power of nature to help the body but also the mind and the emotions. We need to be nourished on a deep level to be able to heal from within.
Over the years I became aware that when someone is sick it’s when they need this approach the most. But often the energy and how to do it is lacking. I realised I had to make it as easy as possible, so carefully curated meal plans which are evidence-based, tried-and-tested became so important to help someone heal. That’s been the motivation behind using FOOD AS MEDICINE in my 30 DAY RESET PROGRAM. It’s really just a life long passion to help and support as much as I can.
